Fiddleheads

Tonight I went to pick fiddleheads for the first time in my life....It was quite an experience although, we went after supper and the bugs were crazy. It was still fun. My boyfriends grandmother said that I did pretty good for a first time picker. I really enjoyed it. I think next time that I go I'll be going in the morning rather than the evening. I'm looking forward to the many more adventures I will have in picking fiddleheads now that I know what I'm doing. Being a first time picker I was told I got an A. I was excited. Watch out fiddleheads here I come......

Thoughts

Wow! How the time goes by so fast. I can't believe it's Monday already.
I'm so excited to finally find out for sure, that I will be going to St. John to see the Grandfather Akwiten canoe on Wednesday. It will be coming out of the crate to get ready to be put on display on June 4.

English

now its once again time to dot those i's and cross those t's......anyway, I've been really enjoying this new class so far. I'm continuing to progress in my writing and grammar skills. I really like how the class is interacting with discussions. It makes the whole class a new learning experience.

Class is over.......

Although this 2nd session is over I found out a lot about web 2.0 tools and their functions. I been so eager to finish this class because, I really hope I did better in this second half of the ed3862/ed4862 class than I did in the first part. I'm trying in my mind to blame it all on not knowing what the teacher expected, but I guess it all really comes down and back to the certain individual who was doing the work in the first place...anyway.....I glad this part is done as I look forward to the many adventures of using the useful information I have learned in this technology class, as well as, the future classes to be taken....Bye

picasa

Lastnight a presentation was done on picasa and I found this very interesting as my niece is always using this program..I, myself have never used this program and now I'm interested in finding more about it and how it works. All I would have to do is asked my niece about it , but I'm thinking she may just skip through it fast as she already knows everything about it and I'll get lost. So I'm thinking of taking a look for myself. I've seen many pictures that she has adjusted and find them pretty neat. I look forward to testing this out....

new gaming vs. old gaming

I was watching the g4 channel last night and they were showing the new game "grand theft auto 4" and to see the graphics on this game is so unbelievable. The gaming industry has come so far. I think is game is definitely not suitable for under 18. I mean the things that are shown on this game is mind blowing. The way sex, drugs, and alcohol are portrayed on this game is so adult. I would hate to see children playing this game. I sometimes wonder why do the gaming industries make games like this. They say that they are for adult players, but that just makes the younger generations want to play them even more, and it is the younger generations that are more apt to play these types of games rather than the older generations. I can still remember when we had Nintendo and Atari, that's when games were fun and family portraying games, but now its more about violence, sex and drugs, like we don't have enough of those to deal with in real life.....my opinion on the new games vs old ones

commercials with digital natives

lately I've been seeing this cute but true commercial about a baby sitting in front of a computer. I was thinking that it just goes to show you how in fact the world of technology is pushing all kinds of technology towards the digital natives of this world and how the digital natives learn to grow with this technology and accept it.

technical difficulties

technology has its ups and downs.....lately at that last few classes there has been so many difficulties, like sound not working, and it was so hard trying to do our class presentation without sound...but we did have a phone, but it seemed weird talking through a telephone as we did, but somehow we managed to get through it....KUDOS to all who had the chance to do their presentations,a job well done, sorry to not have heard a couple of them.

Finally!!!! phew

Lastnight we did our group presentation and I'm so glad it's finally over. I had knots in my stomach, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I think that our group did really good and was surprised at how it just seemed to flow. Also I think that all presentations were a job well done. Good job to you all. Any thoughts on what you guys think???? And I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the presentations. Good luck to the rest of you guys.

Snow... Snow...and More Snow

Well I thought we would finally be rid of the snow when I saw all the rain we were getting yesterday. But my thoughts were wrong. I woke up this morning and seen more snow on the roads.DARN....when we finally be rid of it???I seen a guy in Ontario who built a wall out of all the snow in his yard and that wall was pretty huge....The wall stood as tall as his house. It still ceases to amaze me at how much snow we got this year. Last year was nothing compared to what we received this year. So I was thinking how much is to much???

Frustrating Work

As we get closer to our group presentations I now realize how much work is involved. The work is easy to figure out and how to get the info, but the hard part is breaking things down. To find out the best way to explain it in only 10 minutes. I find it difficult to break it down as there can be so many branches like a tree growing, it just keeps expanding.

Gone Wrong Totally Wrong

Well hello all! last night I was reading the most horrific article on the web. It was about faulty equipment on an airline and a woman died on that flight. My thoughts and prayers go out to this family as it shouldn't have happened. I mean she was refused twice oxygen and when she did finally get it the tanks were empty. What does this mean for technology coming into place? Is it more faulty now than before? I'm not sure if I would even want to fly again due to knowing about the technology and equipment aboard planes....

The Gaming Industry

Well hello there! Look at how far we have come in the gaming industry. I mean we came from playing with a joystick and now all we have to do is point our controller to the tv and we are playing a game. I bought a nintendo wii and find that they are a pretty useful piece of technology. The fact that all you have to do is swing the controller like a bat/tennis racket or even your arm as if your bowling or boxing. I even find you can also use it for working out. It can determine your "wii age" based on your balance, stamina and speed.

welcome

Welcome fellow students to my blogging page

This blog will be used for my studies in ed3862 (1st session) and ed4862 (2nd session). It says to talk about something discussed in class. So I'm going to talk about the use of cellphones. My 13 year old niece who lives with me has a cellphone, and like Jeff said teenagers aren't talking on them, instead she uses hers as a texting device. My niece originally recieved her cellphone so we would know where she was and if was stuck somewhere she could call and we would go get her. Her phone is a sliding phone. You can talk on it normally or flip it so you can use it to text easier. Most of the time she is texting. So in my opinon any teenager can run circles around me in the field and knowledge of cellphones, which I do hope to change in learning more about technology within this course. So in closing I'd like to say that I think cellphones are one of the best things in technology, considering we came from back in the days of making phone calls through morse code, and now its wireless and you can carry your phones where ever you go.
